FAQs
For Students
Any Missouri resident 21 years or older that doesn’t already have a high school diploma can apply. Enrollment will begin July 15th, 2025.
Our launch site and temporary location will be in conjunction with Metropolitan Community College at their Broadway location (3444 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City, MO).
With the services we already offer, an adult high school was a natural next step. Goodwill is committed to helping job seekers overcome barriers to employment, and the absence of a high school diploma remains one of the most significant challenges faced by many individuals in our local community.
The Excel Center is dedicated to promoting college and career readiness while addressing the unique challenges faced by adult learners. Students are encouraged to earn industry-recognized certifications and/or dual college credits alongside their high school diploma. Additionally, on-site life coaches provide individualized support to help students successfully transition into the workforce following graduation.
Yes. Since students at The Excel Center earn Missouri-approved high school diplomas, the school is held to the same academic standards and accountability measures as all other institutions awarding high school diplomas in the state.
For some individuals, online learning is effective; however, for others, a traditional classroom setting provides the most supportive environment for success. The Excel Center offers direct instruction, one-on-one support, and a learning-focused atmosphere designed to meet the unique needs of adult learners.
Yes, The Excel Center Kansas City will employ certified instructors who are equipped to work with students across a wide range of skill levels, aptitudes, and educational backgrounds. Our model is designed to meet students where they are and is fully compliant with all applicable federal and state regulations.
For Community Members
Different individuals thrive in different learning environments, and our goal is to be the ideal fit for those who benefit most from in-person support. At The Excel Center, we prioritize meeting students where they are by providing classroom-based instruction, immediate support from on-site teachers, and strategies tailored to the needs of adult learners. We are committed to partnering with existing programs to ensure every student is fully prepared for success beyond high school
